About Us

For more than 40 years, Don Siegel has been collecting, studying, researching, and enjoying historic Native American art with a special emphasis on Historic and Vintage  Southwest Jewelry.  He is active within various Indigenous communities, immersing himself in the culture, and works closely with private collectors,  institutional curators, foundations and museums alike.

He created Chipeta Trading Company™ in 2005 to share his passion and appreciation for historic Native American art. To this day he is still sharing his knowledge and materials to clients worldwide. Don can assist you in building a new collection, expanding your existing collection, or helping you amass a world-class, museum-quality collection of historic Native American art. Don works with well-known Indigenous-Native models, stylists and advisors to insure his presentations are respectful, knowledgeable and appropriate.

Our mission: "To build a bridge of appreciation, respect and understanding between the Indigenous-Native elders and ancestors whose visions, skills and talents created these amazing works of historic wearable art and those who will curate, caretake and pass on these wonderful works to future generations!"

Thanks to the on-going support of new and existing clients, a significant portion of the annual profits of Chipeta Trading are used to help fund Indigenous/Native non profits, higher education scholarships for Indigenous students, Tribal food banks, social justice initiatives, museum programming, equine therapy and affordable health care for children and families in need. "Chipeta Scholars" 2024 goal is to once again donate more than $100,000.  to these worthy and important causes.  For more information please contact Don.

Discretion is of utmost importance. Chipeta works quietly, discreetly, and by appointment only, enabling Don’s clients to collect one-of-a-kind historic Native American art while providing them with a relaxed environment outside of the public eye.

The Chipeta Experience™, by appointment only, take place in our gallery near the Historic Plaza area of Santa Fe, New Mexico where  Don surrounds himself with his passion for Indigenous/Native cultures. With a constant inflow of new items, clients will be enthralled with each and every visit. Don is always looking to acquire single pieces as well as entire collections of historic Native American art.  We have an extensive collection that cannot be shown entirely on our web site.  Please contact us with your "wish list"  of items that you may add to your collection.  If we do not currently have the piece available we are able to successfully source items with relationships nationwide.

If you are interested in learning more about "Chipeta Scholars" scholarship and funding programs and to make an appointment to visit the gallery please feel free to contact Don directly:
